The 2009 People’s Choice Award for the Australian Fitness Industry gives the public a chance to vote for the best fitness business in Australia.

Who can vote?
Any person with access to the internet is able to vote.

How does a client vote?
They simply log onto to www.fitnessawards.com.au and click on “People’s Choice Awards”. Then complete the details of the business they wish to vote for and give 25 words or less why they should win.

Which businesses are eligible?
Any business that actively provides fitness services to the public is eligible to win the 2009 People’s Choice Awards.

How does our business get involved?
Simply email awards@fitness.org.au with the business name and postal address as well as a contact name and number requesting a People’s Choice Award Point of Sale Kit*. You will then be sent posters, desk cards and bookmarks to give to your members to invite them to vote for you.

How does a Business Win?
At the end of the voting period votes for each business will be tallied. A percentage score will be given to each business comparing the number of votes to the number of members/clients. The business with the highest percentage in each State or Territory wins their local award with the highest national percentage taking out the Australian Award.

The Award winners will receive funding to conduct an event to celebrate with their community and the National winner will travel to Perth to be at the Gala Awards Dinner.

Every business that receives a vote will be informed and receive the feedback from those that voted for them.

Tallying Votes and “What if’s”:

Every vote for a club/business will be verified against their address as listed in the Fitness Australia database OR Telstra Yellow Pages. Where no business can be verified against a given address that vote will be discarded as invalid.

Each vote will be tallied against a valid business with comments stored for the vote.

At or close to the conclusion of the voting period, valid businesses will be contacted to declare their number of members or active (financial) clients. Fitness Australia will trust the numbers given by operators but reserves the right to randomly audit the information given.

The following formula will then be applied:

Number of Votes	X 100
Number of Members	1

The resulting percentage will be the score for that business.

No score shall be more than 100%, thus should number of votes exceed number of members the score awarded shall be 100%.

Should more than one business score the same winning score, the judges of the Fitness Industry Awards of Excellence Business Awards shall review the accompanying comments for those businesses and rank the businesses in their view.
